When America entered World War II, the country faced an enemy that had banned and burned over 100 million books. Librarians became outraged and donated books to our troops. The War Department joined the publishing industry in an extraordinary program which resulted in 120 million small, lightweight paperback books. Beloved by the troops and still fondly remembered, theirs is an inspiring story for history buffs and book lovers alike. Join us for a lively discussion of When Books Went to War: The Stories That Helped Us Win World War II by Molly Guptill Manning.
The library is closed on Fridays, please use the back door by the meeting room to enter.
