“Have you ever wondered why there is so much disagreement about how to help our society and its people become the America we all want? Do you find yourself overwhelmed in the simplest conversations about politics or religion? Do you want to totally ignore the news? Do you only watch or listen to news sources that you know will agree with your views?

Jonathan Haidt, author of “The Coddling of the American Mind”, has the book for you! This month our library book club will be reading and discussing, “The Righteous Mind: why good people are divided by politics and religion.” In an easy-to-read style, Mr. Haidt discusses his ground-breaking research in ‘moral psychology.’ his theory that our moral judgements arise from gut feelings and not from reason. He explains why liberals, conservatives, and libertarians have such different intuitions about right and wrong. This book is sure to spark new avenues of thought and discussion.

Stop in now to get your copy of the book. All adults are welcome to participate in our monthly book discussions. For a morning of lively discussion call 740.924.3561, email Martha at or stop by the library to join Book Club. You need not be available every month to participate.

If you would like to join us, please enter by the meeting room door as the library is closed on Fridays.
