Licking County Coalition for Housing’s VITA program supports low to moderate income tax-payers. If your family’s Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) in 2013 was $52,000 or less per return, you are eligible for FREE TAX RETURN FILING!
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, or VITA, is a program sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), which offers free income tax assistance to
eligible low and moderate income taxpayers. VITA sites are staffed and operated by IRS-certified volunteers who prepare and e-file Federal, State and School District Income tax returns.
VITA also offers financial education and referrals to other community resources. LCCH has operated a VITA site since 2006. Tax preparation is available at the LCCH office in downtown Newark, at ODJFS/Opportunity Links and at OSU-N/COTC campus. Other community locations may be added. Walk-ins times and appointments are available. Call LCCH at 740-345-1970 for hours, information, or appointments.
VITA sites are only allowed to prepare personal income tax returns. Business tax returns, income from rental property or farms, and some advanced tax issues can not be handled at VITA sites. Self-employed taxpayers who file Schedule C-EZ may be eligible. LCCH does not amend or prepare returns for past years. Taxpayers must be present at the time their taxes are prepared. Another person is not allowed to bring in the information or attend for the taxpayer, unless legally authorized to do so.
